Gunman Posted June 26, 2011 Report Posted June 26, 2011 Hi all, Looking for some advice, I have just bought a late 04 Galaxy 1.9TDI (130). There is a problem with the heater which means that it will only work at setting 4. I have searched through the forums and it sounds like this is a resistor needing replaced? One other quirk it has is that the air con button will light up when the fan setting is 1, 2 or 3 (with no air being blown), but when I turn the fan to 4 the light goes out, you get some ice cold air blowing for a few seconds then air which isnt coooled. It sounds like the aircon is maybe Ok but is this normal behaviour? Thanks all. Quote
bfc1001 Posted June 26, 2011 Report Posted June 26, 2011 you d be right on the resistor mate . you ll need to remove the glove box to access it . cant miss it , its green and needs a screw removing to get it off. id sort that first before looking at air con. Quote

Gunman Posted June 26, 2011 Author Report Posted June 26, 2011 Ok, figured it out and have the resistor out, is this a dealer only part? I'm heading of on holiday on thirst in it so would like it sorted in the next few days. Quote
bfc1001 Posted June 26, 2011 Report Posted June 26, 2011 could try scrap yard or e bay to save a bit of money but i think there only 25pounds or so new . just make sure u go to vw and not ford for the part. Quote
Gunman Posted June 26, 2011 Author Report Posted June 26, 2011 (edited) Why is that? Is it just price or will Ford not stock them? For the price I will fit a new one. Edited June 26, 2011 by Gunman Quote
bfc1001 Posted June 26, 2011 Report Posted June 26, 2011 more than likely ford wont stock em as they dont make em and you ll probably pay over 40 pounds for one there . they like to stick there bit of profit on top once they ve bought em off vw. if u want my advice always go to vw for parts not ford . there cheaper and customer service is non existant at ford. Gunman Posted June 26, 2011 Author Report Posted June 26, 2011 Cheers, I'm not sure if I should say but I'm an Audi fan myself, never set foot in a ford dealership. I'm more at home with vw anyway. Quote
Gunman Posted June 28, 2011 Author Report Posted June 28, 2011 Quick update, all working again, incl air con. Resistor from vw was Quote
